"The kindness of God leads you to repentance." Paul writes that to people who thought they were fine — the religious, the informed, the ones who could say "at least I'm not like them." In Romans 2 he shows us that God has never been after better behavior. He's after our hearts. We aren't merely uninformed and in need of better information; we are spiritually dead and in need of regeneration. And that's exactly what God, in His kindness, gives. The gospel transforms us from the inside out.
